On August 11, reporters from the ministry of environmental protection learned that the ministry will conduct post-supervision on the rectification of environmental problems of 101 listed companies and will release the results in due course. The 101 listed companies were all listed through the environmental protection verification in 2007 and 2008. Petrochina, sinopec, baoshan iron and steel, guodian power and other large companies are among the list of inspectors. From now till the end of September, companies will conduct self-inspection first, and the ministry of environmental protection will also organize spot check and inspection on listed companies. In explaining why post-supervision is carried out, the department of pollution prevention and control under the ministry of environmental protection said that post-supervision is an important means to prevent and control industrial pollution. In the light of the post-environmental supervision, the ministry of environmental protection requires all companies to make reference to the environmental protection rectification plan promised by the company during the environmental protection inspection and the environmental protection rectification requirements put forward by the ministry to check the implementation of the rectification. Among them, the ministry of environmental protection requires all companies to provide evidential materials for the problems completed by rectification. For those who fail to complete the rectification requirements as scheduled, the company shall also explain its reasons and implementation schedule.
